When you’re looking at my photo packages, you’ll notice I offer both 35mm film and medium format film. If you’re new to film photography, it can sound like technical jargon—so let’s break it down simply:
📷 35mm Film
What it is: The classic film most people imagine when they think of “film photography.” Smaller negatives, more frames per roll, usually 24–36 although I shoot 36 that way it's more bang for your buck!
Why it’s great: It’s fast, flexible, and has a nostalgic, candid feel. Think movement, fun, and storytelling.
The trade-off: Because the negatives are smaller, the images have a grainier look and less fine detail compared to medium format. Perfect for casual, documentary-style moments.
🎞️ Medium Format Film
What it is: A larger film negative (about 3–4x bigger than 35mm). Fewer images per roll, usually 10–16 (my camera captures 15).
Why it’s great: More detail, sharper images, and gorgeous creamy depth of field. Colors and tones render beautifully—it’s that timeless, editorial, luxury look.
The trade-off: You’ll get fewer total photos because each roll has fewer frames, but each image carries a level of richness that 35mm can’t match.
So, Which is Right for You?
If you love the playful, spontaneous, in-the-moment vibe, 35mm is your best friend.
If you want artful, fine-art portraits and heirloom-worthy shots, medium format is worth the investment—even with fewer images.
